Plot location: West-facing ravine slope ca. 1.1 miles north of junction of routes 655 and 654 at Beach.
Plot captures a relatively mature, mesophytic forest on a gentle ravine slope. The overstory is comprised of tall, well-formed Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Liriodendron tulipifera, and Fagus grandifolia. Carya spp are conspicuous in the sub-canopy layers. The herb layer is somewhat sparse and patchy but moderately diverse. This stand appears to be gradually changing from an oak-tuliptree frorest to a beech-oak-hickory forest.
